Complete renovation of the East wing and redecoration of the remainder. Renovation of the whole roof and refurbishment of the swimming pool.

Woolley Estate

Oxfordshire

A new built orangery linking the main house with the annexe wing to form a rear entrance hall and boot room. The 1000sq ft room has a lead roof, underfloor heating, basement and glazed screen with French windows opening onto the garden. We also renovated the atrium, oculus and windows of the main house.

Lechlade Farmhouse

Gloucestershire

A beautiful Gloucestershire manor farm that had not been renovated for over 50 years. The roofs were re-felted, battened and stone tiled. We converted the attic into three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a new elm staircase built on site, re-plumbed, wired and redecorated the whole house. The ground floor was re-configured with a new kitchen, boot and utility rooms. The old barns were converted into a farm office, kitchen and playroom.

Maunsel House is the 13th century home of Sir Benjamin Slade and is now a venue for weddings, corporate events and house parties. As the business has expanded it became necessary to build a commercial kitchen. West Country Renovations were instructed to complete this work and thoroughly enjoyed it. The proudest moment for any builder of such a project is when people can’t see where the old building ended and the new started; this has often been said of the kitchen at Maunsel. The stonework, the fish scale roof, mullion windows, lead and copper cupola and weather vane, oak doors and ironmongery were all made to match the rest of the house. Our stonemasons have a true affinity with stone-built houses; each stone seems to have its rightful place.

Great Lemhill Farm

Gloucestershire, UK

A beautiful Gloucestershire manor farm that had not been renovated for over 50 years. The total works included fitting a new Megaflow plumbing installation and re-wiring throughout. We also converted the extensive attic floor into three lovely bedrooms and two bathrooms. The ground floor was re-configured with a new kitchen, boot and utility room. The main staircase was adapted for safety reasons and a new elm staircase was built on site. The house was totally redecorated throughout and the roofs were re-fitted, battened and stone slated. Lemhill was transformed into a wonderful, family home. The old barns were converted into the farm office, kitchen and playroom.

Historic Brownshill Court near Painswick was close to ruin. West Country Renovations stepped in to meticulously restore the 18th-century estate, using matching materials and preserving architectural details. The south wing is complete, with full restoration expected by year-end. This project breathes new life into a Cotswold gem.

New Builds

Helpston

Peterborough

An interesting new build having both a structural green oak frame and a fully structural Sips envelope. Designed by the architect to meet the client’s requirements for both a visible green oak frame internally and a passive house.

The house has a 5000 sq ft main house with a large basement and ground source heating, a 2000 sq ft farm office and self-contained flat, a walled kitchen garden, barns, and landscape gardens. It was designed to look like a stone-built Georgian farmhouse with a Victorian wing added at a later date.

Bicester

Bicester, Uk

This 6500sq ft new build in the middle of a private estate has a full-length cellar including gun room, game larder, utility, lower ground hall and boiler room. This required single pour Xypex because groundwater level is 2ft. below external ground level.

London

This project was the total renovation and re-fit of this historic Chelsea dance studio into the beautiful flat that it is today. Great attention was paid to every detail and although the flat is spacious (1,860 sq ft), space was used to its maximum potential. The entrance door and all internal walls were relocated to improve the internal layout, and sliding doors were used in both bathrooms. The specifications included installing air conditioning, rewiring, two bathrooms and a new kitchen. Described as ‘meticulously finished’ by John D Wood.

Iverna Gardens

Kensington

This Kensington first floor flat is the third property we have worked on for the same clients. The flat was stripped out and refurbished, re-fitted and re-wired, including new bathrooms and kitchen. The work included book matched veneer joinery, specialist wallpapering, polished marble plaster and Chinese glass mosaic tiling.

Covent Close

Covent Garden

Built on the grounds of a listed convent in London, this was a highly complex new build. The central spine of the house is the listed kitchen garden wall with the house designed to look like greenhouses on one side and timber sheds on the other, whilst achieving passive house levels of insulation and energy generation.

Country

Larchwood

Gatwick

The conversion of a former care home and ancillary buildings into five terraced and fully detached properties. Completed on time and in budget for the developers.

Redecoration of the whole house, a new kitchen and raising the first-floor ceilings

This Arts and Crafts house had been poorly renovated in the 1980s. We added a modern steel and glass extension creating a lower ground floor with bedrooms, cinema and utility; a large light kitchen/living room with fully opening glass wall overlooking the harbour on the ground floor and a first-floor balcony and roof terrace. The remainder of the house was stripped, reconfigured and brought up to the highest spec.

Sandbanks

Sandbanks

The architect was asked to maximise the light and space in this 1970’s new build. We removed the face of the building over three floors, cantilevered the first and second floors out over the ground floor, replacing all the rear ground floor walls with fully opening glass doors. We renovated the remainder of the house and built extensions on both sides.

Okehampton

Okehampton

This beautiful home in the Sussex countryside was created by building a large extension and re-arranging the internal layout of the house. The staircase was moved and widened to make it grander; a bedroom removed to bring light into the centre of the house and the other rooms reconfigured to create more contemporary living spaces with very individual en suite bathrooms.

Gogwell

Devon, UK

We refreshed a Devon long house to showcase a blend of tradition and luxury. Renovations included creating an open-plan living area, a new kitchen, new bathrooms and bedrooms, and the revival of external barns for additional living space. A dedicated yoga room and a stunning 20-meter pool. Expert landscaping complements the property..
